Connect and change your Expo account
Last reviewed:
Connect Expo before testing QR on your phone. On iPhone, Expo Go must use the same account. The project owner saves the token; do not paste your Expo password into the platform.
Create an account and access token
- 1
Create an Expo account
Open expo.dev and create an account, or sign in to your existing account.
- 2
Open account settings
Choose Account settings, then Access tokens. You can open the tokens page directly.
- 3
Create a personal token
Click Create token, choose a name that reminds you of the project, then create the token and copy its value. It grants access to your personal account; keep it private and paste it only in the dedicated field.
Where do I paste the token in codeyy?
- 1
Open “App publishing”
In your project, select the “App” face and open the publishing tab. Find “Setup: connect your Expo account”. If the publishing tab is hidden, open it from the project tools menu.
- 2
Paste and save
Paste the access token into the masked field and click “Save token”. Wait for saving to finish; there is no fixed success deadline. On success, “Connected” appears and the token field closes.
- 3
Or connect from the QR panel
Open “Preview”, then “QR”, then “Connect preview account”. Paste the token and click “Save and connect account”. On success, the field clears, the heading becomes “Change connected account”, and QR preparation starts automatically. Both methods save the same connection for this project.
- 4
Test on your phone
Sign in to the same account in Expo Go. If you saved through publishing, return to QR and click “Start QR preview” or “Refresh preview code”. Wait for preparation, then scan it. See setup timing.
“Connected” means the token is saved. Saving does not validate it with Expo or confirm the account name. Successfully opening the app in Expo Go is your practical check. The token is stored encrypted and its value is not shown when you reopen the panel.
If saving fails
- 1
Check ownership and the token
Make sure you own the project and copied the full access token value without extra spaces. Do not use the token name or your password instead.
- 2
Save again
If the token format is rejected, copy it again or create a new token. If connection or saving keeps failing, send the error text to support without the token.
Change the account or rotate the token
- 1
Create a replacement token
Open Expo with the account you want to use and create a new personal access token.
- 2
Replace the project token
Click “Change connected account” in publishing or QR. Paste the new token and save. Replacing it here does not revoke the old token in Expo.
- 3
Refresh preview and match accounts
Saving from QR starts preparation automatically. After saving from publishing, click “Refresh preview code” or start QR. Sign in to the new account in Expo Go and scan the new code.
Delete and revoke the token
- 1
Open Access tokens in Expo
Choose the token you created for this project and delete it in Expo to revoke access. See the access token guide.
- 2
Understand the local connection status
codeyy currently has no delete-connection button. “Connected” may remain because a saved token exists, even after revocation in Expo. Revocation does not erase the stored copy on the platform or confirm that an open tunnel stops immediately.
- 3
To preview again
Save a new token and refresh QR. If you need the stored copy removed from the platform itself, contact support.
Account connection and QR preview remain available while store builds are paused. The Expo token can be used for preview even when store build and upload buttons are disabled. See the app publishing wizard.
